Hacking Humanity: Artificial Intelligence Accelerates CRISPR-Cas9 "Gene Editing"

Through out human history, one age has been supplanted by the next.  The Iron Age was supplanted by the Industrial Age.  The Industrial Age was supplanted by the Digital Age.  And then something amazing happened.  The Information Age came into being.  Unlike previous eras, the Information Age didn’t supplant, or in essence replace, the Digital Age.  It assimilated it.  The two ages merged to create one of the most exciting, dynamic periods in human history.   The Information Age has seen an exponential growth the shear volume of data produced, consumed, stored, and processed.

CRISPR-Cas9 Catapults Humanity Into The Eugenics Age

According archaeological records, scientist believe that mankind began using tools about 600,000 to 700,000 years ago.  This period was called the

“Pleistocene, or Glacial, Epoch”

and marked the beginning of the Stone Age.  The Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Stone Age compromise the “three-age” system.  This period of human development saw mankind grow to harness raw materials to produce complex machinery.

Man's Next Friend

In October 2015 a team of Chinese scientists reported in Journal of Molecular Cell Biology that they were planning to genetically engineer a dog.  The dog, Canis familiaris, was selected for their experimentation because they

“...exhibit close similarities to humans in terms of metabolic, physiological, and anatomical characteristics, and thus are ideal genetic and clinical models to study human[s]...”

Beagles were chosen for experimentation.
